For all those who have tried the different versions of PrestaShop, they will know that managing orders is one of the essential pillars of eCommerce operation.
Customer details, shipping, discounts, invoices. The list, which includes a long list of important aspects, requires understanding to navigate its different tabs with confidence. If you are still a bit lost, don't sound the alarm, at Línea Gráfica we can help you learn how to manage orders in Prestashop.
How to manage orders in PrestaShop 1.7
Managing orders in PrestaShop 1.7 follows the same line as 1.6: boasting comprehensive features and an interface that is both accessible and intuitive. There are certainly new features, but the general aesthetics are very similar. At the top we will see a summary of our orders: conversion rate, abandoned carts, average amount per order and net profit per visitor.
Just below this first overview, each and every active order will appear, sorted by date. Including unique reference, delivery location, customer details, amount, possibility of downloading the invoice, payment method and order status.
To start managing, we will click on the order and go into its in-depth aspects.
Customer details
Knowing the customer is another of our brand's priorities. Fortunately, PrestaShop 1.7 offers us one of the most complete schemes to analyze the trajectory of our users. Successfully meeting their needs will no longer be a mystery!
From personal data, shipping/billing address, registration date, orders or products purchased, to the discount coupons available, shopping carts used since you entered the website and the last connections (allowing us to know the IP address). Everything at our disposal to improve each sale.
Order status
This category focuses on the status of the order we have opened in detail. The most interesting part of this feature is being able to update the status of the order with just one click (cancelled, delivered, shipped, payment error, pending payment, accepted or transfer) and, if that were not enough, automatically communicate this change to the customer.
If the product has been shipped, we will change the order status from “Payment accepted” to “Shipped” and send an email with information directly to the buyer’s inbox. Something they will appreciate.
Once we accept the payment, the invoice will also appear automatically. Click on “View invoice” to download the PDF with all the order and customer details. Everything is easy here.
Transport
There are few complications here. The shipping tab offers basic information about the transport of the product. You can add the tracking number (ideal for offering a professional image to our customers), choose the carrier according to the shipping cost and returns that come back.Payment of the order
Payment management is somewhat more limited than in the other sections of the order. Here we will find the payment method chosen by the customer, the transaction identification number, the amount and the invoice. It acts as an order clarifier , so we do not need to modify it either.Messages
These are notes added to the order: either internal to guide us in preparing it or public so that the customer can see it. PrestaShop 1.7 provides us with default messages according to our needs (delayed order, birthday, gift, etc.) to add a plus of closeness to our buyers. It is extremely easy to customize them, so it will not require much of you to leave your mark on each shipment.
Products
The last aspect of the order. In the new version of PrestaShop we can modify the final price, the quantity of products in the order and the invoice number. We can also add discounts if the customer takes advantage of a temporary offer or if we need to offer compensation for shipping or billing errors.
